MED was developed some 30 years ago by Dr. Theodore Sutnick in Beverly Hills, California. In 2002 Dr. David Rahimi had the privilege of spending some time with Dr. Sutnick and learning this procedure from him.
This physico-chemical peel is minimally traumatizing and achieves results with 2 or 3 visits. Even more importantly, the procedure is painless and does not require any downtime.
The procedure begins with a very detailed superficial epidermal exfoliation using a scalpel. This part of the procedure is done very gently and superficially and does not leave any visible marks. The superficial abrasion eliminates the "epidermal" or dead layer of the skin. Afterwards, using a compressor, milias, tiny subcutaneous cysts, keratosis, and superficial rough spots are extracted and eliminated. During this part of the procedure the sometimes almost invisible roughness of the skin is removed. The final part of the procedures entails the application of carbon dioxide mixed with just the right amount of acetone. The effects of this local freezing is penetrating and long lasting. Refinement and tightening of the skin is immediate. New collagen synthesis is promoted and will continue for weeks to come.
The result of this procedure which lasts from 30 to 45 minutes is to make the face appear more youthful with an incomparable clarity. Fine lines, wrinkles, traces of acne and pigmentation are diminished. The color of the skin is fresher and more luminous. Additionally, this procedure can be combined with Collagen, Botox, Restylane, Perlane, or Hyaline injections to achieve even more.
We recommend MED treatments every 2 to 3 months to achieve consistent and long lasting results. MED is appropriate for any skin type and age group and since it does not damage skinÁs elasticity and actually promotes collagen synthesis it can be performed for many years to keep your skin flawless.
