Axillary and Palmar Hyperhidrosis (Excessive Sweating) can be very distressing and interfere with daily living and ones career.
Axillary and palmar hyperhidrosis can be socially and professionally embarrassing. Here is how I approach patients with excessive sweating.
After a thorough workup excludes serious medical problems, I discuss treatment options with my patients. Most patients who come to me have already tried antiperspirants with little or no success. I usually discuss Ionotophoresis, medications, Botox and surgery.
In my experience Botox is the most effective and least invasive of the treatment options available today for excessive sweating. It is expensive and the results only last 6-12 months, however some PPO insurances have begun covering the procedure.
Surgical options are divided up into Endoscopic Sympathectomy (surgical interruption of the nerve impulses to the sweat glands) and liposuction of the axillary sweat gland using the tumescent technique.
I have had great success with permanent and significant reduction of sweating using tumescent liposuction in the axillary area. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia, lasts about one hour, and in most patients leaves no visible scarring. Downtime includes 2-3 days of soreness after which social obligations can be resumed.
Hi Dr. David Rahimi, my name is Richard and im 18 yr from Mumbai. Can u please tell me how much does it cost for Botox.
And also tell me the cost for the surgeries as well. Thank You!!
